In order to help the 2020 freshmen to better adapt to university life and start a new learning journey, the School of Mathematics started the library education course for freshmen in the F3 classroom of the Jingxin Teaching Building at 1:30 pm on September 21, 2020.
The purpose of this activity was to popularize the use of university libraries, mainly to let students understand the basic knowledge about the library, how to borrow books and some library regulations to avoid behavioral errors. The teacher in charge of the lecture started with the inquiry method of the library. Students could inquire books and personal related information through WeChat public account, library APP, library webpage. The teacher specifically described how to borrow and return books, as well as some precautions of the library, such as the penalty for not bringing takeaways into the library, penalties for not returning books overdue, keeping quiet in the library, and some types of books which cannot be borrowed, but only can be read in the library, etc. The teacher’s words were humorous and vivid, and bursts of laughter from the students were heard in the lecture hall from time to time, which adds a lot of fun to this report.
After this activity, students basically understand how to borrow and return books in the library, how to find the books they need, and the classification of libraries in different campuses, which not only laid a good and solid foundation for their future study, but also strengthened their recognition and identification with Ji University. I believe that after listening to this report, the students could be proud of themselves as Ji University students, and be able to firm their dreams, have confidence and determination to make a leap in their life and fulfilled their ideal in the School of Mathematics of Jilin University.
