The School of Mathematics of Jilin University advertises a postdoctoral guest researcher program in collaboration with the Mathematics Institute and the Institute for Numerical and Applied Mathematics at Georg-August-University Göttingen, Germany. The candidates will be employed by Jilin University for a period of 2+1 years (third year after positive evaluation). The candidates could spend roughly one semester per year in Göttingen, beginning the first semester in Jilin. Starting date is 1st of March 2022 (to be adjusted upon mutual agreement). Jilin University is one of the top universities in China. In 2017, the subject of mathematics was selected into the ranks of the national "Double First Class" discipline construction. There are two national centers, Tianyuan Mathematical Center in Northeast China and National Center for Applied Mathematics in Jilin, affiliated to the School of Mathematics of Jilin University. Göttingen is one of the mathematical institutes with the most distinguished traditions world-wide, having been home to Gauss, Riemann, Hilbert, Klein to name just a few of our ancestors. The institute has an ambitious research program in many areas of pure and applied mathematics. The postdoc program features intensive training and cutting-edge research projects in pure and applied mathematics, focusing in particular on geometry, topology, higher structures, PDE, optimization, mathematical physics.

In addition to the salary of 240,000 yuan/year before tax and social security (before tax and social security (roughly 2000 euros per month afterwards), the funding also includes travel expenses between China and Germany. Because of the nature of the type of funding, we are sorry that it does not apply to Chinese citizens. Chinese candidates may directly apply to Jilin University for postdoc positions. We strongly encourage female as well as candidates with disabilities to apply. Please send your application with CV, publication list, research profile and arrange for at least two letters of recommendation (also in electronic form) to shengyh@jlu.edu.cn at Jilin University. Applications received after this date may be considered until the position is filled.
If you have any questions about the program, contact Prof. Dr. Sheng (shengyh@jlu.edu.cn) and for the Göttingen aspects Prof. Dr. Schick or Prof. Dr. Zhu (email: Thomas.schick@math.uni-goettingen.de, czhu@gwdg.de).
